Mbale Public University secures office space for its operationalization

Mbale, (UG): Mbale Public University, a government university in the heart of Masaabaland recently secured office space and land from the Mbale District Local Government for the construction of its headquarters.

The Elgon Region Public University is a Science and Technology based university meant to serve the regions of bukedi, bugisu and Sebei. The institution will cover the districts of Bududa, Mbale City, Mbale District, Bukwo, Kapchorwa, Manafwa, Namisindwa, Sironko, Kween and Bulambuli including the bukedi region serving a community of over 15,000,000 million people.

The Mbale District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Mr Luke Lokuda in a telephone interview with this website confirmed the development and said the office space is meant to ease coordination by the managers of the Mbale Public University.

President Museveni while meeting the political leadership of Bugisu and Kapchorwa in Kapchorwa town about 2 years back granted the region’s public university and advised the leadership in the region to formulate a task force for its implementation.

The Umukhuka III of bugisu says the pledge by the president for a university will help to create jobs in the region.

During the recently concluded tour by the Umukhuka Jude Mike Mudoma in Europe, the University of England pledged to work closely with Inzu Yamasaaba leadership to provide free computers to the Mbale government university and architecture to help in designing the buildings to be constructed.

Mbale District was chosen as the host of the university because of the central nature of the District and on account that it is a mother district to all other districts in the region. Kapchorwa and Pallisa all belonged to bugisu at some point.
