UPL: Asiwome hat-trick propels Vipers past NEC in Coach Mbabazi debut

In a sensational display at Kitende, Vipers SC triumphed 4-1 over NEC FC, marking Charles Livingstone Mbabazi’s stellar start as the Venoms’ head coach.

Ghanian striker Asiwome Fumador stole the spotlight with a second-half hat-trick, securing an impressive win for the defending champions.

The game kicked off with Yunus Sentamu putting Vipers ahead in the 23rd minute, only to be equalized by Cromwell Rwothomio before halftime.

However, the second half belonged to Asiwome Fumador, who netted goals in the 54th, 66th, and 68th minutes, sealing his hat-trick and Vipers’ dominant victory.

The win propels Vipers to the second spot in the Uganda Premier League standings, trailing BUL by 5 points.

Mbabazi enjoyed a perfect start to his tenure as head coach, while NEC FC continued their winless streak, having not secured a victory in the last four games.

Other Results

In other fixtures of the day, league leaders BUL FC faced a setback in their title race, succumbing to a defeat against Gaddafi FC in Jinja, while Express FC secured a 1-0 win against Arua Hill SC at the Paridi Stadium in Adjumani, marking Alex Isabirye’s third successive triumph for the team.

Goals from Frank Mulimi and Rashid Bithum secured the victory for the Army side, denting BUL’s campaign.

Despite the loss, BUL maintains the top spot with 32 points and looks to bounce back against Mbarara City FC in their upcoming match on Saturday.
