Kampala, (UG): The Territorial Police at Kawempe Division are actively investigating a case of suspected murder after a female adult was found dead inside a guest house room on Sunday morning.
Mr Ziraba Salim, Manager of Pleasure Guest House in Kawempe where the incident occurred says the guest identified as Mwesigwa Paul, who booked the room, left after payment, only to return later that evening with an unknown person.
The next morning, during a routine check, the manager found the room open and, upon entry, discovered the tragic scene, triggering a prompt response from the police, including a team of homicide and forensics experts, who conducted an initial investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest the possibility of suffocation using a pillow after an intimate encounter. The deceased remains unidentified.
Deputy Spokesperson of the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Mr Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident and said that a case file has been opened, and statements from witnesses have been recorded.
The body has been transferred to Mulago City Mortuary for a thorough postmortem examination.
“Mwesigwa, who was last seen entering the room with the deceased, is currently on the run and all efforts are being made to apprehend him to shed light on what exactly transpired with the deceased,” said Owoyesigyire.
“The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be shared as more information becomes available,” he added.
