President Yoweri Museveni has received a special award from the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM) in honour of his outstanding leadership and commitment to social and economic development in the region and continent at large.
The President who was represented by the Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja received the prestigious accolade on his behalf at the award ceremony held in Rome, Italy’s capital on Monday night.
The event was attended by distinguished Heads of State and Government, with the notable presence of Kenya’s President H.E. William Ruto and Somalia’s President H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Ms Nabbanja expressed gratitude for the international acknowledgement of Uganda’s dedication to social and economic progress and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the challenges faced by the African continent.
ECAM commended President Museveni and the Ugandan government for their humanitarian efforts in welcoming refugees from various African countries and beyond. The recognition underscores Uganda’s commitment to providing a safe haven for those fleeing conflict and persecution.
The Italy-Africa Summit provided a platform for leaders to engage in constructive dialogue on economic cooperation, regional stability, and sustainable development.
In addition to the award ceremony, various leaders from across Africa convened at the Italy-Africa Summit in Rome on the same day.
On behalf of the President, Nabbanja, actively participated in discussions addressing key issues affecting the region. She reiterated Uganda’s commitment to fostering partnerships that contribute to the overall advancement of the African continent.
As President Museveni’s administration continues to receive international recognition for its dedication to social and economic development, Uganda remains a key player in regional diplomacy and cooperation.
The Social and Economic Commitment Award from ECAM serves as a testament to the positive impact of Uganda’s policies on the well-being of its citizens and the broader African community.
