‘Electric man’ Lumala departs Vipers after 18 months

Wakiso, (UG): Vipers Sports Club Wednesday announced the departure of midfielder Abdu Lumala who left the Kitende-based club by mutual consent.

The club in a statement via the website, confirmed the 26-year-old’s exit after a fruitful two-season stint with the Venoms.

“Vipers Sports Club can confirm that midfielder Abdu Lumala has left the club by mutual consent.”

Vipers SC further expressed gratitude to the departing midfielder, fondly referred to as the ‘Electric Man’, acknowledging his instrumental contribution to the team’s achievements and his role in their recent double-championship victory.

“Everyone at Vipers SC would like to thank the ‘Electric Man’ for his contribution to the club and wish him every success for the future.” the club stated.

Lumala, who joined Vipers SC as a free agent in July 2022, has decided to explore new opportunities, marking the end of his tenure with the club.

During his time with Vipers, the versatile midfielder made a significant impact, showcasing his prowess on the field.

In his 20 appearances for the club, Lumala notched up three goals and contributed five assists, leaving an indelible mark on the team’s performance.

Notably, his departure comes on the heels of a successful season, where Vipers SC clinched the Uganda Premier League and Stanbic Uganda Cup in the 2022/23 campaign.

A highlight of Lumala’s time with Vipers SC was his pivotal role in the historic victory over TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo.

This triumph secured Vipers SC’s qualification for the CAF Champions League group stages, marking a significant milestone in the club’s history.
