Kibuku couple murdered in cold blood, police speak out

Kibuku, (UG):- The police in Kibuku have launched investigations into the gruesome murder of a couple whose bodies were found lying in cold blood in Bulalaka village Tirinyi Sub County Kibuku District, eastern Uganda.

The deceased have been identified as Namwoyo Twaha 38 years and Katooko Nasim 27 years all residents of Bulalaka village, Saala parish, Tirinyi sub-county Kibuku district.

The couple is believed to have been hacked on the night of Thursday as their bodies were found having multiple cuts and lying in a pool of blood in their compound.

“On the 2nd February 2024 at about 10:00 am, the dead bodies of Namwoyo Twaha and Katooko Nasim were found lying dead in their compound at Bulalaka Village Tirinyi sub-county. Both bodies had multiple deep cuts all over, suspected to have been killed by hacking by unknown person(s),” said Bukedi North Regional Police Spokesperson SP Semewo Samuel.

Police added that exhibits of an axe and two knives were recovered at the scene. Statements were recorded from some relevant witnesses and bodies were taken to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem by a police surgeon.

Mr Semewo explained that the case was reported by Namba Charles 50 years the District Councillor Tirinyi sub county Kibuku and a case file of murder was opened at Tirinyi Police Station under CRB 010/2024

“When the police canine unit was introduced at the crime scene, it rotated around the compound, went under a mango tree next to the home, followed the route that connects to Tirinyi Mbale highway and on reaching the highway, the police canine unit sat on the highway,” said the police spokesperson.

Police confirmed that no arrests have so far been made as investigations go on.

Cases of murder are increasing in the region with the recent one being in Kibuku where in January this year Mwigo Sepiryan, a bodaboda rider in his mid-40s at Dodoi road stage Kadama Town was murdered in cold blood and his body left in a pool of blood with multiple cuts on his head in a swamp at Lyada Cell Kadama Town Council.
