Iganga, (UG): The Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) is in sombre mood following the passing of its branch manager in Iganga – Busoga, Princess Rebecca Tikabitire Izimba.

Princess Tikabitire, a daughter to the late His Royal Highness Patrick Izimba Gologolo, the former ‘Ngobi’ of Kigulu Chiefdom in Busoga succumbed to breast cancer, an illness she has been battling for quite long.

She died in the wee hours of Monday morning from Musana Community Health Centre in Busei-Iganga, where she was getting treatment for the illness, according to the branch media officer URCS Mr Ndhoga Ibrahim.

“We are shocked to learn about the sudden death of our sister princess Rebecca Tikabitiire Izimba who has been the manager of Uganda Red cross society Iganga branch. She has been one of the pillars and will be remembered for the hard work beyond self,” Mr. Ndhoga said.

He praised the deceased for the unveiling love towards serving people through Red cross society, saying she was a selfless and hardworking person even at times when her life was hard to live.

“As you know, the work of Red cross is charity in nature and we save lives of others at any cost. She abandoned everything and sacrificed her life to Red cross service despite the hard health conditions she has been undergoing, and she could move to ensure that people’s lives are saved,” Ndhoga added.
