Museveni awards man who captured Ndiga clan head killers

Kampala, (UG):- President Yoweri Museveni has awarded a Nalubaale Heroe’s Medal to Abdul Katabaazi, the bravery man who courageously pursued after and captured the killers of Ndiga Clan Head Eng Daniel Bbosa on Sunday, February 25, 2024.

The Nalubaale Medal is awarded by H.E. The President of the Republic of Uganda to all civilian activists who have contributed to the political development of Uganda, either through armed struggle or civil disobedience, pursuant to Section 3 of the National Honours and Awards Act of 2001, as amended.

“You did a heroic thing. Now you have become a guerrilla like myself. You will be given a medal. Have you ever heard about a medal?” Mr Museveni said Monday during an event he hosted Mr Katabazi at State House Entebbe on Monday afternoon.

The President, was at the function accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni and other officials when they awarded the medal to Mr Katabaazi during the weekly cabinet meeting.

Mr Museveni commended Mr. Katabaazi for his bravery and fight for the noble cause.

“I want to congratulate you; you have done a heroic job. You have now become a bush warfighter like me,” Mr Museveni said.

Eng Bbosa, 72, who was also the director of Transa Electrical, was shot dead in his car as he approached his residence in Kikandwa Zone in Rubaga Division, Kampala District on February 25 after attending a family function.

Mr Katabaazi, a plumber and motorcycle rider in Kikandwa Zone, Lungujja, Rubaga Division, is said to have pursued and captured the assailants who shot and killed the clan chief leading to one of them being lynched by the locals and another captured while the third assailant escaped and is being hunted.

During the meeting, Katabaazi narrated to President Museveni how he, with the help of other boda boda riders, pursued and captured the assassins.

“Thank you, Your Excellency, the President of Uganda, for recognizing me with a medal and giving me a chance to meet you,” Mr. Katabaazi said in appreciation of the award.

Mr Museveni pledged to support other boda boda riders who participated in the pursuit and capture of the suspected assassins as they reportedly tried to flee on a motorcycle.

This was after Mr Katabaazi during the meeting told the president that he worked with other cyclists who helped in the pursuit.
