CAF Finance Director Richard Torsu in Uganda amid CHAN 2024 bid evaluation

Kampala, (UG):- The President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), Eng. Hon. Moses Magogo Tuesday welcomed the CAF Finance Director, Richard Torsu, along with officials at the FUFA Complex in Mengo.

During the visit, which included FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, the esteemed guests were given a guided tour of the FUFA Complex, showcasing the state-of-the-art facilities.

As a gesture of appreciation, the guests were presented with customised Uganda Cranes jerseys, symbolising the strong ties between FUFA and its partners.

The timing of the visit coincides with the impending inspection by CAF officials of proposed venues in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania to host the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.

Uganda, undergoing significant renovation efforts at Namboole National Stadium, and Nakivubo Stadium, and with a promise from the government to upgrade Akii Bua Stadium by 2027, is eager to showcase its readiness to host prestigious continental events.

The inspection team will commence their evaluation in Uganda on March 6th and 7th, followed by visits to Kenya, Zanzibar, and Tanzania. The findings of their report will play a pivotal role in CAF’s decision regarding the host nation for CHAN 2024.

FUFA’s hospitality towards the visiting delegation underscores Uganda’s commitment to providing top-notch facilities and organisational standards, further bolstering its bid to secure the hosting rights for CHAN 2024.
