Dokolo MP By-election: Seven nominated as NRM line up Adongo against Cecilia Ogwal’s daughter

Dokolo, (UG):- The nomination exercise for the candidates in the race for the Dokolo District Woman Member of Parliament seat concluded on Tuesday with a total of seven candidates confirmed for the election exercise.

Among those nominated are the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Ms Rose Adongo, who is set to face off with the late Cecilia Ogwal’s daughter; Dr Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal (FDC) and Ms Harriet Ageno Nenidiro (NUP).

Other candidates in the race are; Dr. Lalam Grace Annah Atine (independent), Dr. Esther Akullu Obit (IND), Aguti Sarah Nyangkori (UPC), Rebecca Arao and Akullu Esther Obot both independent candidates.

Speaking shortly after her nomination, NRM’s Adongo promised to work together with the people of Dokolo to ensure the social and economic transformation of the people in her constituency.

“I have the pleasure to hold the NRM ticket and promise to work together with the people of Dokolo to ensure the social and economic transformation of our people,” she said.

The nominated candidates will be allowed to campaign in their constituency from March 13 to 19 and the by-election will be conducted on March 21, where only one of them will emerge as the winner.

The Dokolo Woman MP seat fell vacant following the death of Cecilia Ogwal in January which prompted the electoral commission to announce the by-election for the replacement.
