Kitara Fc extend UPL lead with dominant victory over URA

Masindi, (UG):- Kitara FC showcased their dominance in the Uganda Premier League with a resounding 3-0 victory over URA FC at Masindi Stadium.

The match, held on Thursday, saw Kitara assert their authority from the onset, setting the tone for a memorable performance.

The opening goal came in the early stages of the game when Denis Omedi capitalized on a swift counterattack, slotting in a precise finish from a Kabon Living assist.

Despite URA’s protests for offside, the goal stood, granting Kitara a crucial advantage.

Not content with just one goal, Kitara intensified their onslaught, doubling their lead in the 37th minute.

Jude Semugabi rose highest to meet a corner delivered by Paul Mucureezi, unleashing a powerful header past the URA goalkeeper, further solidifying Kitara’s position.

The match took a dramatic turn when substitute Ivan Ahimbisibwe received a red card for an elbow on Paddy Muhumuza, leaving URA with a numerical disadvantage.

Kitara capitalized on their opponent’s predicament, with Living Kabon sealing the victory in the dying moments.

Despite their efforts, URA remains in seventh place on the league table, with 31 points from 21 matches.

Meanwhile, in other league action, Busoga United staged a remarkable comeback to salvage a draw against Soltilo Bright Stars FC at Kakindu Stadium. Sharif Nsereko and Issa Bugembe had given Bright Stars a two-goal lead, but Jeremy Matata and Franco Mugomba’s goals ensured Busoga United earned a valuable point in their quest for survival in the league.
