Bobi Wine rallies Dokolo voters to choose NUP’s Ageno in Woman MP By-election

Dokolo, (UG):- The National Unity Platform (NUP) President, Mr Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has called upon voters in Dokolo District to turn up in large numbers this Thursday, March 21, and vote for his party candidate Harriet Ageno in the upcoming Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament by-election.

“I am here in Dokolo to ask each one of you to come in large numbers and make your voice heard through voting and also to stay around and guard your vote,” Bobi Wine appealed.

Kyagulanyi also challenged the voters to hang around and guard against theft of their votes.

The NUP leader was Sunday, March 17th 2024 holding a campaign rally in Angwencibangi Primary School, Dokolo Town Council, Dokolo District which is gearing up to replace its WMP Cecilia Atim Ogwal who died on 18 January 2024.

The former Presidential contender in the 2021 elections reminded people about the extent of the challenges facing everyone in the country and that it was their duty to deliver the nation from the mess.

“For long, Dokolo district in particular and Northern Uganda have been kept in poverty, if you think I am lying look at your roads, hospital and schools. Uganda is very rich but, Ugandans are very poor because all the money they get from our taxes is stolen by the NRM government,” Bobi Wine said.

‘’For now, we need to create a new Uganda where we are all equal before and under the law. You the people of Dokolo need to change the Parliament through right voting,” he added.

The NUP flag bearer Ms Harriet Ageno in her speech promised to stand by the voters in Dokolo by boosting their ability to vote rightly.

She says it is sad to witness some child-bearing mothers in health facilities in Dokolo being forced to buy gloves that should be provided by the government free of charge and pledge to combat it once trusted with power on Thursday votes.

‘’I promise you today that for as long as we live, we shall stand by the people of Uganda, by the people of Dokolo and by the people of Africa and make sure we change our country once and for all,’’ Ageno said.

Ms Ageno will face off in the by-election with six other candidates, Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal from Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Janet Rose Adongo Elau from National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Sarah Aguti from Uganda People’s Congress (UPC).

Others are Esther Akullo Obot, Anna Grace Lalam, and Rebecca Arao all are independent candidates.

Meanwhile, DailyExpress understands that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be in Dokolo on Tuesday to campaign for the NRM flag bearer for the Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament race, Janet Rose Adongo Elau.

The election is slated for Thursday, March 21st, 2024. The seat for Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament became vacant following the death of Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal on January 18.
