Meet Dr Khanakwa Sarah Bwayo, Namisindwa’s hope for 2026-31 Woman MP

Dr Khanakwa Sarah Bwayo is the hope for Namisindwa, come 2026.

Profiled:- Dr Khanakwa Sarah Bwayo is a humble Ugandan woman passionate about poverty eradication. Born in Buwasunguyi, Bupoto, in Namisindwa District, eastern Uganda, Khanakwa is vying for the position of Woman MP for the district, as she sets out to be part of the change agents for a brighter Namisindwa.

namisindwa district, part of Bugisu subregion borders Kenya to the east. The district has for long faced a series of development challenges. And clearly, Dr Khanakwa who is currently working as head of resource mobilization at the Uganda AIDS Commission (under the Office of the President) has come at a time when Namisindwa needs a youthful and strategic leader.

Holding a portfolio of resource mobilization for over 10 years, for one of the most pressing problems that Uganda has ever encountered (HIV/AIDS), means that she has mastered the art of resource mobilization and developing partnerships – a skill that is much needed as she guides on strategies to raise additional revenues to mitigate the growing development challenges in Namisindwa District in particular and the country at large.

Her 17 years of compassion work with the HIV sector – offering psychosocial support to the most vulnerable populations that have barely lost hope, exhibits her motherly and caring personality.

A strong campaigner for women in business, Dr Khanakwa discusses and demonstrates the practical bit of this topic with passion while encouraging women to pursue a business career just like herself, because business is close to her heart.

As a PhD holder, her analytical skills signal a better future for the people of, not only Namisindwa, but Ugandans at large in her legislative role.

Dr Khanakwa also doubles as a lecturer at the Uganda Management Institute (UMI) in Kampala and a global development consultant under the UNAIDS Technical Support Mechanism (TSM) a centrally managed, country-driven mechanism that provides high-quality technical support to countries.

Working within the office of the president, Dr Khanakwa is a strong NRM ally in delivering its manifesto through community mobilization and planning of people’s welfare.

Her rise is going to help fill the leadership vacuum in Namisindwa district. And as one of Uganda’s youngest districts, Namisindwa district needs a lot of sacrifice, strong leadership and commitment to ensure prosperity and wealth creation.
