Amolatar, (UG):- The State Minister for Northern Uganda Affairs, Dr Kenneth Omona Friday, April 05, officially commissioned a multi-billion Nalibwoyo Health Centre III in Nalibwoyo Sub County, Amolatar District.
The Shs 1.4 billion project, constructed by the UPDF engineering brigade comprises of an Outpatient Department (OPD) ward, Maternity ward, Laboratory ward, 2 stance latrines and staff quarters.
Speaking at the commissioning function, Dr Omona cautioned the health workers at the facility not to involve themselves in bribery and corruption as they do the work at the facility.
“We are much aware that corruption is rampant in different parts of the country. I don’t want to hear that there is any corruption and bribery on you the Health care service provider,” Omona warned.
Omona also handed over 150 pieces of iron sheets to Agwingiri primary school in Agwingiri Sub-county in Amolatar District to reroof the 4 classroom blocks that were blown off sometime back.
According to Mr Geoffrey Ebongo, the head teacher of Agwingiri Primary School in Amolatar, the iron sheets donated will sort out the problem of shelter for pupils.
“We are pleased with the iron sheet support. This will see our pupils have shelter. We are appealing to the government to give us more support in terms of teacher’s houses,” Ebongo said.
Ebongo noted that his school has a total of over 1000 pupils and has been facing a shortage of sitting space.
The Minister also inspected the progress of UGX 4 billion construction of Amolatar District Council Storage Block which is under construction by Bygone enterprise. The council block is a pledge of President Museveni during his campaign in 2006.
Amolatar District Chairperson, Mr Geoffrey Ocen, said out of the 1 billion shillings they have received from the government for the construction of the council block has so far been utilized well.
He believed once the council block is completed, it will provide space for over 600 people both in the council flow and gallery.
This is the first ministerial task Omona performed since his appointment as a minister for northern Uganda.
