S.6 student knocked dead by speeding govt vehicle in Bugweri

Bugweri, (UG): The Territorial Police in Bugweri District are investigating a fatal accident involving a government vehicle that claimed the life of a senior six student of Nkuutu Memorial Secondary School on Thursday.

The crash according to Busoga East Police Spokesperson SSP Diana Nandawula occurred at Buwoya village, Buyanga Sub County along Busesa-Nawangisa road in Bugweri district.

Ms Nandawula identified the deceased as Namusoke Eseza, a Senior Six student at the secondary school located in Busesa, Bugweri District.

The preliminary police findings say the government vehicle attached to the Ministry of Works and Transport registration number UG 2510W reportedly collided with a yet-to-be-identified motorcycle which was carrying the deceased at the fateful day.

“The accident involve a vehicle registration number UG 2510W which collided with a yet to be identified motorcycle which was carrying the deceased,” SSP Diana Nandawula said, adding that police towed the vehicle and parked it at Busesa police station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).

SSP Nandawula warned all drivers and other road users to avoid misbehaving along the roads, saying it is paramount to observe road instructions while using the road to prevent accidents.

She said most accidents are as a result of indiscipline by some road users who tend to lack respect for fellow road users.

Meanwhile, the body was later ferried to Iganga General Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination before handing it over to relatives for burial arrangements.
