Namisindwa mourn passing of senior NRM Cadre, Inzu Ya Masaaba elder, Peter Wabuya

Namisindwa, (UG):- The people of the Namisindwa District, Bugisu Sub-region, Eastern Uganda, are mourning the untimely passing of their Elder, Mayeku Peter Wabuya, a prominent figure in the Bamasaaba Cultural Institution, Inzu Ya Masaba, and a dedicated NRM cadre.

Wabuya passed on Thursday, May 16th 2024, from his home in Butinduyi Cell Phones, Magale Town Council.

Hon. Emma Bwayo, the Male Youth Councilor at Namisindwa District Council and a grandson to the late broke the news on the WhatsApp group of Mt. Elgon – Bukedi Media Organisation (MEMBO) an organisation unifying Journalists working within areas surrounding Mountain Elgon.

“I regret to announce the untimely passing of Elder Mayeku Peter Wabuya, the former Vice Chairman of Namisindwa District.” Bwayo wrote, adding that his grandfather had been battling with Diabetes for some time now until his untimely demise.

“Elder Wabuya was a prominent figure in the Bamasaaba Cultural Institution, Inzu Ya Masaba, and a dedicated NRM cadre. He also served as an interpreter for President Museveni during his visits to Bugisu, translating presidential addresses on more than 19 occasions. May his soul rest in peace,” he added.

The late previously served as Vice Chairman of Manafwa District and Deputy Speaker of Greater Mbale

According to the released burial programme, on Thursday 23rd May, the body will be taken from Mbale City to Magale Town Council for viewing.

On Friday 24th May, it will be taken to Namisindwa District Council for Special Seating and later to the ancestral home for a night vigil in Lwambale (V), Buwasungi (P), Namabya Sub-county, Namisindwa District.

He will be laid to rest on 25th May, after final send-off prayers conducted by St. Andrews Church of Uganda at Lwandubi Primary School in Namabya Sub-county, Namisindwa District.
