Busoga NUP leadership unaware of Kyagulanyi’s visit to Kamuli

Kamuli, (UG):- The leadership of National Unity Platform(NUP) has today written to the secretariat of the party seeking clarification of the visit of the party president Mr Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine in Kamuli municipality scheduled on Wednesday, 22nd May 2024.

In the letter dated Monday, May 20, 2024, seen by DailyExpress, the leadership is seeking clarity from the secretariat because as leaders of Kamuli district and Kamuli Municipality, they didn’t get the official communication from the relevant office of NUP and they don’t know where the function will take place, the organiser yet they are subjected if anything goes wrong.

During the press conference held at the Kamuli NUP office at Namwendwa Road, Akram Mpoya spokesperson for NUP in Kamuli district said that as the leadership they’re not against Kyagulanyi’s visit to the district but they want to get involved such that they prepare for his visit.

“We’re not saying that you should not come to Kamuli but our issue is; if you’re to come to Kamuli first inform our leadership such we prepare for you the venue and other things. As Kamuli municipality and district, we have our Kunga people, Foot soldiers and other leaders who are able to prepare for your visit”; Mpoya said.

Meanwhile, Isabirye Fred NUP district mobilizer asked the NUP Secretariat to respect their leadership because they also contribute to the main objectives of the party and they have always been submissive to the party.

“As Kamuli municipality and district leaderships we know that our main objective is to end the regime of President Museveni and that is also what we are advocating for but the divisions and disrespect among the members of the party will hinder them,” he said.

Kavuma Badru, chairperson NUP Kamuli municipality asked the party president not to force himself in the district, however, let him postpone the date and engage all the leaders of the National Unity Platform in the district.

The party register Amuvin Julius who signed the letter which was copied to the Police and office of the Residents District commissioner, requested the party president to reorganize the visit such that they also get involved.

He also said that if he insists to come the following party members should not escort him because they’re the ones who are bringing confusion to the party; Muyonjo Hussein alias Swengere, Pr Andrew  Muwanguzi head of Ideologies and organisations in the party, Mr Kaluuya Andrew, Mukuve Jamal and Sauda Madaada.

“We are requesting the party president to first meet with the leadership of Kamuli municipality and district to solve the problems in the party amicably and if he insists to come let him not appear with the above-mentioned members because they are the troublecausers. We are also much aware that the mentioned members abused Hon Manjeri Kyebakutika Woman Member of Parliament Jinja City on the final day of the foot soldier football tournament in Bugiri,” he says.

“Therefore, we are not ready to welcome the people who are trying to divide the party members in Kamuli Municipality.”
