Kampala, (UG):- Hoima-based Kitara Football Club were on Saturday crowned champions of the 50th Stanbic Uganda Cup, thanks to a 1-0 victory over NEC FC, courtesy of Solomon Okwalinga in the 75th minute of the finale.
The thrilling match, held at the Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku attracted thousands of passionate football fans as Kitara concluded the Uganda football season on a high note despite narrowly losing out on the league title.
NEC FC put up resistance in the 90 minutes but despite numerous attempts to find an equalizer inside the last 15 minutes, their efforts were thwarted by a resilient Kitara defence.
The atmosphere at the stadium was electric, with fans erupting in celebration as the final whistle confirmed Kitara FC’s triumph.

Saturday’s Uganda Cup victory not only marked a significant achievement for the Royals but also secured their place as Uganda’s representatives in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup.
