Mbale Heroes players celebrate their return to Uganda Premier League after 17 years of absence

Mbale, (UG):- Mbale Heroes have bounced back to Uganda’s Premier League after a dry spell of almost 2 decades. The fans and players were upbeat the whole of last week awaiting Sunday’s 26th May 2024, Match decider, to the Premier League, where it didn’t disappoint, trouncing Onduparaka FC 2 – 1.

The excitement of the fans and players could not be held back because of the historic moment after a long absence from the Premier League football since CRO’s relegation in 2014 and having been relegated themselves in 2007.

The Heroes finished four points ahead of the local rivals Kataka FC in third on the BetPawa Big League table where the top three teams earned their place in the Premiership.

Social Media was awash with congratulatory messages over the victory. Ahmed Wetaka posted on his Facebook page, “Congs Mbale Heroes FC for bouncing back to the Premier League. It has been a hard fight”.

Micheal Wafana posted, “Warm congratulations to our mighty Mbale Heroes upon being promoted to the Star Times Uganda Super League. Welcome to the table of men. Great appreciation for the men and women who made it possible through all manner of support, especially financially. Thank you, Wanyama Don Innocent and Nathan Nandala-Mafabi”.

Counsel Paul Wanyoto the Chairman of Land Board Mbale District kept his promise by rewarding the team with $600 for the Victory Over Onduparaka.

Last week, Wanyoto pledged to incentivize the team with $300 per goal, and they delivered by scoring twice in a thrilling 2-1 victory.

This crucial win not only brought joy to the team but also secured their promotion to the Uganda Premier League after a 17-year wait. Wanyoto’s generous support highlights his dedication to the team’s success and provides a significant morale boost as they prepare for the challenges ahead.

He also purchased 200 tickets for the fans who attended the Match yesterday.
