Luuka, (UG):- The former National Unity Platform (NUP) coordinator in Luuka District, Mr Emmanuel Mbalasa Lutaaya has praised the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) for tackling the promises and issues which were forcing him and his group to demand for results while still in the opposition.

Lutaaya says a number of issues like the long-promised Walugogo-Luuka-Kamuli road have been unattended to and it is one of the reasons he has been demanding the same while in opposition. Mbalasa however recently crossed to the ruling NRM and he was ushered into the party by the NRM Vice chairperson for Eastern region Cap. George Mike Mukula in Kampala.

While speaking on Saturday at a fundraising for the construction of Busalamu Seventh Day Adventist church in Busalamu town council Luuka district, Mr. Mbalasa noted that some issues in politics needs dialoguing instead of using forceful means and said he will demand the remaining issues while in the NRM party after realizing that the road will soon be tarmacked.

“….not everything needs fighting and force is not necessary everywhere but dialogue is needed sometimes to settle some concerns. The things which have been causing us to shout at the government in NUP are being worked on like our road which will soon be tarmacked starting in July. Now what shall we say after working on our demands?” Mr. Mbalasa said.

At the function which was presided over by deputy NRM secretary general Rt. Hon Rose Namayanja Nsereko as the chief guest, Mr. Mbalasa stressed that he can now reach a number of government officials for demands and dialogue to have more achievements directed to the community people.

“What opposition demands are the thing already being worked on by the government, and there is no way I can meet and dialogue with Hon Namayanja while in opposition and it is the reason I joined NRM after learning a lot from them,” Mbalasa said before rallying all youths he was commanding in the NUP to join him in the NRM and embrace a number of government programmes.

At this function, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Luuka district Mr. Ronald Katende urged the youths in the district to exhibit a level of maturity when exercising politics through engaging in government programs regardless of their political parties.

He pointed out the district performance in the PDM and confirmed that the road will soon be constructed by the engineers he termed as experienced and trusted with a good track record in doing road works, giving an example of their work which was done in Masaka district.

“We have some challenges and one of them is the road, but the good news which cannot be doubted is that the road will be tarmacked and I very well know the contractors who were given the work and I can testify after working on Nyendo-Mukakata road in Masaka, which is one of the good roads Uganda has done,” Mr. Katende said.
