Father, son, held over murder after beating mother to death in brutal fight

Butebo, (UG):- The Territorial Police in eastern Uganda’s Butebo District have arrested a 50-year-old man and his 20-year-old son over the alleged murder of 49-year-old Naula Eseza through a brutal assault.

According to the police statement, the incident occurred on June 5, 2024, at Bukatikoko Village, Petete Town Council in Butebo District.

The deceased, who the police identified as Ms Naula Eseza had returned home from drinking in the morning around 4 am, when the husband identified as Keeba Isaaya and his son Kedi Stephen confronted Naula, demanding to know where she had been.

Without allowing her to respond, the two men then proceeded to severely beat her.

Naula’s co-wife intervened and was able to stop the assault, but Naula was already unconscious by that point. Good Samaritans rushed her to the Butebo Health Center IV for treatment.

The following day (today), the late Naula’s brother; Sisye Misairi, a teacher at Kagalaba Primary School, reported the domestic violence incident to the Butebo police station.

“Police launched an investigation, and on June 5th at around 2:30 PM, doctors at the health centre pronounced Naula dead. Keeba Isaaya and Kedi Stephen were promptly arrested to assist with the ongoing investigation,” said SP Samuel Semewo, the Acting Police Spokesperson in North Bukedi Region.

This publication established that Naula’s body was today transported to the Mbale City mortuary for a post-mortem examination by a police surgeon as police promised to provide more updates on this matter with the ongoing investigation.
