Four killed as armed thug opens gunfire at family of nine in Mayuge

Mayuge, (UG):- The Territorial Police in Mayuge District are investigating the incident of shooting where a suspected soldier attacked and shot nine people from the same family, killing four on the spot.

The incident occurred at around 9 pm at Nawanvubu-Namatare village, Kabayingire parish, Buwaaya Sub County in Mayuge district in the family of Isaac Buyinza Mudasi with preliminary reports point the shooter to be a relative of the affected family.

Busoga East police spokesperson SSP Diana Nandawula has identified the deceased as Isaac Buyinza Mudasi, 42, the father of the family and his children; Elesi Kafuko, 15, Resty Kantono, 13 and Musasizi Nicholas Mudasi, 6. These four died on the spot.

Those who survived with injuries include Jesca Timujibwa, 34, the mother of the family and their children Kyozira Harriet and Kitibwa Isaac. Others are their relatives Kyakuwaire Vayola, their sister-in-law and one Moureen. They were rushed to Iganga General Hospital for medication.

Siraji Tenywa Isabirye the LC1 chairperson told DailyExpress that, he heard about this tragic incident at 9 o’clock when unknown assailants shot four people of the same family dead on the spot and the other five were taken to the hospital to seek medication  

Meanwhile, Edward Balidawa LC1 chairperson of Namatale village Kabayingire parish, Buwaaya Sub County in Mayuge district said that the deceased had land wrangles and the issue already in court asking the government to investigate the matter which he believes would caused the murder 

Hussein Kamali chairperson of Buwaaya Sub-county in Mayuge district has urged residents who could know the whereabouts of the assailants to help the police  as they continue with investigations

Kamali added that the deceased reported to the police about the people who were intimidating him saying he would be shot, and therefore asked the police to investigate.

Police led by DPC Afande Agnes Aanyu and Aran Ayebazibwe the police CID  reached the crime scene together with the sniff dog to start the investigation.
