The Ugandan football transfer window officially opened on July 1 and clubs are wasting no time in strengthening their squads.
In a major coup, Simba has confirmed the signing of Uganda international Steven Mukwala from Ghanaian Premier League side Asante Kotoko. Mukwala, who scored 14 goals and provided two assists in 28 league appearances last season, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with Simba.
Meanwhile, Kitara has signed former Maroons FC captain David Ndihabwe until the end of June 2025, while URA FC has confirmed the departure of Najib Fesali.
Vipers SC has also been busy, signing Issa Bugembe from Bright Stars FC and securing the services of Derrick Ndahiro, Kenneth Kimera, and Angolan Pedro Honjo.
KCCA FC has welcomed left-back Isa Mubiru from Vipers SC and midfielder Sharif Ssengendo from Gaddafi FC, while Maroons FC is set to lose over 8 players, including key players Fred Amaku and Ronald Orombi.
The Uganda Premier League season begins on September 13, 2024, while the FUFA Women Super League starts on September 8, 2024. The FUFA Big League season kicks off on September 22, 2024, and the FUFA Women Elite League begins on September 21, 2024.
On the international scope, Andre Jardine, the renowned coach, is poised to sign a new contract with Club América until June 2027, solidifying his commitment to the team despite interest from European clubs. The deal includes a buyout clause for top European leagues and national teams.
In other news, Lilian Brassier has arrived in Marseille to finalize his transfer to Olympique de Marseille, signing a five-year contract.
Meanwhile, Michele Di Gregorio is expected to be announced as Juventus’ new goalkeeper soon, regardless of Wojciech Szczesny’s future plans.
