Enanga officially hands over police spokesperson office to ACP Rusoke (PHOTOS)

Kampala, (UG):- The outgoing Police Spokesperson, SCP Fred Enanga today, Thursday, July 4, officially handed over the office the has held for over 5 years to ACP Rusoke Kituma at Uganda Police Headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.

Enanga, 51, was recently promoted to become Deputy Director of Interpol and International Relations of the Uganda Police Force, with his spokesperson position taken over by ACP Rusoke Kituma.

The handover and takeover ceremony was presided over by SCP Anna Tusiime, the Deputy Director Human Resource Department.

Kituma who previously commanded the Rwizi Regional Police before elevation to the office of the Police Spokesperson begins his new role effective, immediately.

On Monday, while bidding farewell to Journalists at Naguru Police Headquarters, Enanga, who has been known for defending Police in hard times, acknowledged that being a police spokesperson is a challenging task, particularly when faced with criticisms and abuse from the public.

In other police changes announced by IGP Byakagaba earlier this week, Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Stephen Tanui was transferred to the Directorate of Fire Prevention and Rescue Services as Deputy Director, with Richard Ecega appointed as his successor.

Additionally, Assistant Commissioner of Police Bob Kagarura has been appointed to lead the Organised Crime Special Investigations Division at CID headquarters, while Commissioner of Police Patrick Lawot transitions to Acting Deputy Director of Counter Terrorism Police from his previous role in the Tourism Police Unit.

Other changes include Mastura Kugonza’s appointment as the new Commandant of the Tourism Police and Commissioner of Police Sulaiman Kirungi’s transfer from the Police’s Welfare Department to the Marines Department as Commandant.
