Kikuube LC5 Vice Chairman arrested over extortion

Kikuube, (UG):- In a shocking turn of events, Kikuube District LC5 Vice Chairman, Opio Vicent, was arrested this afternoon for allegedly extorting money from a job applicant.

According to reports, the job applicant, Musabiire Derick, had been seeking employment with the district government when the Vice Chairman allegedly demanded a hefty sum of Shs 1,500,000 in exchange for favourable consideration.

The applicant, feeling coerced and desperate, reported the incident to the authorities, leading to the Vice Chairman’s arrest.

An attempt by the district chairman to secure a bond for him has been futile as all reports indicate he is likely to be taken to court on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

The community demands swift action and a thorough investigation to ensure that justice is served.

As the investigation unfolds, the Secretary for finance also Kikuube Town Council female councillor Zulia Nyakahara has this afternoon been granted a police bond in a related case of extortion of a job applicant.
