Kampala, (UG):- The Office of the Presidency Thursday announced the appointment of Frank Nyakaana Rusa, KCCA’s Director of Legal Affairs, as the Acting KCCA Executive Director, following the dismissal of Dorothy Kisaka over negligence linked to the Kiteezi landfill disaster, which claimed over 30 lives.
The Presidency also announced two other temporary appointments, with Mr Robert Nowere taking over the duties of the dismissed Deputy Executive Director, David Luyimbazi, and Dr Sarah Zalwango Karen assuming the role of Director of Public Health and Environment previously held by sacked Daniel Okello
The assignments according to Hajj Yunus Kakande, the Office of Presidency Secretary take immediate effect. The new appointees will according to Hajj Kakande, hold positions until substantive office holders are named by the Appointing Authority.
As KCCA acting ED, Rusa’s responsibilities will include overseeing the delivery of quality services within Uganda’s capital, promoting order and trade in the city, managing public funds of the Authority and providing technical advisory to KCCA, per the KCCA Act 2011.
The Appointing Authority is expected to announce substantive appointments by the end of 2024.
