Uganda’s Prime Minister, Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja has scooped the Global Women Leadership Award in New York City, United States.

PM Nabbanja received the award during the Global Power Women Conference 2024 that was convened at the Graduate Centre University on September 26.

Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister who also doubles as the Kakumiro Woman MP dedicated the award to President Museveni and the people of Kakumiro saying Uganda has made substantial strides towards gender equality through progressive laws and policies.

“Under the wise leadership of President Museveni, We celebrate Uganda’s substantive stride towards gender equality through progressive laws and policies. I therefore dedicate this award to H.E President Museveni, the cabinet of Uganda and the people of Kakumiro district,” Nabbanja said.

“Aware that the award is in recognition of the demonstrated exceptional leadership on a global scale, we shall strategically continue to navigate complex challenges and leverage opportunities for a better world,” she added.

Later in her keynote address, the Premier said that women need further empowerment to transform the world, especially in the financial sector.

Nabbanja challenged women leaders to support fellow women instead of pulling them down in uncalled-for intrigue and differences. She further appealed to world leaders to remove all discriminatory legal frameworks in the journey to empower women.

The Award, an annual honour conferred by the Centre of Economic and Leadership Development based in the United Kingdom, recognizes and celebrates notable women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership on a global scale, inspiring countless individuals and driving significant change across regions and sectors.

The awarders say it is a badge of honour presented on a world stage to visionary leaders who strategically navigate complex challenges and leverage opportunities to create a better world.

The conference was held under the theme: Advancing the Transformative Power of Technology through Women’s Lens: Shaping the Future of Business and Governance.
