Entebbe, (UG):- At the invitation of His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, His Excellency Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic, has commenced a three-day official visit to Uganda.
During this visit, President Touadéra will participate in the 62nd Independence Day Anniversary celebrations in Busia, Uganda.
Upon his arrival on October 8, 2024, President Touadéra was warmly received at State House, Entebbe, by President Museveni, accompanied by a delegation of Ministers and Senior Government Officials from the Central African Republic.
The two Heads of State engaged in a cordial and constructive tete-a-tete, wherein they discussed various bilateral, regional, and international matters of mutual concern alongside their respective delegations. They reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of regional and international peace, security, and stability.
“I warmly welcome His Excellency Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic, who is on a 3-day official visit to Uganda. Together, we engaged in fruitful discussions on enhancing our bilateral relations, promoting peace, and tapping into our abundant resources for mutual development. I look forward to celebrating our shared commitment to prosperity during the 62nd Independence Day Anniversary,” President Museveni posted via his official X handle on Tuesday afternoon.
Highlighting the strong ties between Uganda and the Central African Republic, the leaders expressed appreciation for the ongoing exchange visits of senior officials and underscored the necessity of optimising these relationships to enhance economic cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
Among the significant topics noted during their discussions was the progress made in Military Cooperation, Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration (DDR) processes for former members of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), alongside advancements in Education and Student Exchange initiatives.
The Heads of State acknowledged the untapped natural resources available in both nations and directed their respective Ministries of Agriculture, Education, Energy, and Mineral Development to initiate cooperative frameworks aimed at utilising these resources for the socio-economic development of their citizens.
President Museveni expressed gratitude to President Touadéra for accepting the invitation and for the fruitful discussions.
In turn, President Touadéra thanked President Museveni and the people of Uganda for their warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation.
Concluding the meeting, President Touadéra extended an invitation for President Museveni to visit the Central African Republic, which was graciously accepted, with the date to be determined through diplomatic channels.
