Kampala, (UG):- Ugandan music sensation and rapper, Patrick Ssenyonjo aka Fresh Kid, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Ruparelia Group for their unwavering support of his education through a scholarship he received five years ago.
Fresh Kid shared his appreciation during a special farewell event dedicated to Primary 7 candidates preparing for their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) next week.
The event held at Kampala Parents’ School auditorium was presided over by His Grace, the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda who led prayers for the students’ success and resilience.
The Archbishop shared words of encouragement, reminding students and parents alike of God’s presence and guidance drawing reference from Deuteronomy 31:8:
“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you.” He emphasized that, as the students embark on this pivotal milestone, they are not alone in their journey. “God is with each of you, walking with you through every challenge and preparing you for a bright future,” Archbishop Kazimba assured the students.
After the prayers, Fresh Kid spoke to journalists commending the Ruparelia Group, Mr Rajiv Ruparelia in particular for supporting his education and music career which has allowed him to excel both musically and academically.
He also expressed his gratitude to Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, Presidential Advisor for Youth and Children Affairs, who personally delivered a success card and also offered words of encouragement to the young star.
Nakiwala praised Fresh Kid’s dedication and perseverance, highlighting the value of education in his journey. She reminded him not to take his father’s support for granted
“Patrick, always remember your father. Many fathers are not like that, but he has been a great source of support for you. Don’t take it for granted,” she remarked. She reminded him that Uganda, including the children and the government, are rooting for him.
“The government, through the Office of the President, is encouraging you to study higher but only on the condition that you succeed at this first level,” she added.
Ms Kato Daphne, the principal of Kampala Parents’ School, also expressed pride in Fresh Kid’s accomplishments, commending his resilience and determination.
”Patrick whatever you have gone through, you’ve seen that God loves you, we are only waiting for the results because we know the teachers have prepared you very well and you’re going to make it” she said.
In his response, Fresh Kid thanked his family, school, and especially Hon. Nakiwala for her unwavering support throughout his journey. “You have been vital in my career and studies, and I am grateful for everything you’ve done for me and my family,” he said.
Fresh Kid and fellow rapper Faith Nanyanzi, aka Felista Di Superstar, both under scholarships at Kampala Parents’ School, have become inspirations to many young Ugandans with their ability to balance stardom and education while maintaining a clear focus on future success.
Five years ago, Rajiv Ruparelia, Managing Director of Ruparelia Group, announced that Kampala Parents’ School would provide Fresh Kid with a full scholarship until he completed primary seven. This promise has been fulfilled.
Rajiv, moved by Fresh Kid’s talent and ambition at the age of seven, stated at the time: “I would love to see him become a guide and inspiration to many young people out there hence, Ruparelia Foundation is presenting this young man with a full scholarship from the Ruparelia Foundation to go to Kampala Parents School.”
