Kampala, (UG):- The Inkumbania (King) of Bugwere Cultural Institution, His Majesty Geoffrey Wayabire, today paid a courtesy visit to Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Manager at Kyambogo in Kampala.
During their discussions which centered mainly on self-empowerment of youths, the Ikumbania rallied his subjects to embrace government programs like Emyooga, Parish Development Models (PDM) all of which are aimed at promoting wealth creation and fighting poverty among Ugandans.
Mr Wayabire expressed his gratitude to Hajjat Hadijah for her exemplary servant leadership and efforts in mobilizing the Bazzukulu whom he called upon to turn out in large numbers and give President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni a warm welcome on the ongoing presidential tours.
“We thank you, Hajjat, and our beloved President, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for the tremendous work he’s doing for Uganda and Bugwere in particular. I urge everyone, from the elderly to the youth, to come and engage in preparations to welcome the President during his three-day tour of Bukedi region,” the Bugwere cultural leader stated.
“This is a great moment for us to host the President, so let each and every one of us attend and grace the event as we present our pressing issues for him to address,” HM Wayabire added.
In her remarks, Hajjat Hadijah urged the people of Bugwere to put aside their differences and recognize the Ikumbania as their truly elected cultural leader, despite facing opposition from a faction of opportunists challenging legitimacy.
Hajjat revealed the discussions with the Ikumbania centered around self-empowerment among youths, a key component of the government’s wealth creation drive and both parties pledged to collaborate in eradicating poverty among the youth in Bugwere Chiefdom.
“We discussed self-empowerment for the youth of Bugwere, and the Ikumbania is keen to know how best we can collaborate with him and the Chiefdom. We are committed to working together to combat poverty and improve the wellbeing of the youth in the region,” Hajjat Hadijah remarked.
“Though Bugwere is largely opposition-oriented, the King, a staunch supporter of President Museveni, believes in self-empowerment and good governance. He is optimistic that empowerment efforts will reach the people of Bugwere,” the ONC Manager added.
Following the meeting, the Ikumbania and his entourage traveled to Bugwere to join Ugandans in welcoming President Museveni, who is currently on a three-day tour of Eastern Uganda, culminating in a major rally on Sunday, November 10, in Pallisa District.
Mr Wayabire was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister Kamugo Fred and General Secretary Mr. Tom Mbulamberi, among other officials.
