Umukuka lll appointed Ibanda university council Member

The Ibanda University Council has appointed the Umukuka III of the Bamasaba, HRH Jude Mike Mudoma to join its council representing the interests of all traditional and cultural leaders on the university council.

The Inzu Ya Masaba spokesperson, Mr Steven Masiga, confirmed the development, stating that His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma has already received his commission, signed by the Vice Chancellor of Ibanda University, Professor James Opolot.

The cultural leader of the Bamasaba people will represent over 15 cultural institutions in Uganda on the university council. The Bamasaba community is elated with the appointment of their cultural leader to the council.

Hon. Irene Khainza, a minister in Inzu Ya Masaba, expressed her admiration for the cultural leader. Hon. Vincent Waboya and Hon. Wilson Watila also shared their happiness over Umukuka’s election to the university council.

Commissioners from the Ministry of Agriculture, Hon. Dr Paul Mwambu, and Commissioner Andrew Masaba from the Ministry of Water, congratulated the university and His Highness. Also, the United Kingdom Bamasaba President, Hon. Michael Materesi, congratulated the cultural leader on his appointment and wished him good health in his service to the university.

Prof Florence Walokoso, on behalf of the Bamasaba community in the United States and Canada, also conveyed her congratulations to the cultural leader upon his election to the Ibanda University Council, while the Kenyan Bamasaba chapter, represented by Hon. Agnes Wache, also expressed their appreciation.

According to Mr Masiga, His Highness Jude Mudoma is a scientist by training and holds a master’s degree in forestry from Makerere University, in addition to other qualifications from universities outside Uganda.

His Highness, the Umukuka, has previous experience in university settings and has also served as a board member of the Uganda Electricity Board.
