Kamuli, (UG):- The Regional Police Commander for Busoga North, SSP Lwamusayi Frantile, has commended local leaders in the region for their steadfast cooperation with the police, particularly during the festive season.
Speaking after a series of successful community policing engagements held in Kamuli, Kaliro, Buyende, and Luuka districts, SSP Lwamusayi highlighted the critical role played by local leaders in fostering collaboration with the police to enhance community safety. The engagements, which took place in November and December, involved sensitization sessions at various sub-county headquarters and villages.
“We had close interactions with leaders and members of the public on collaboration in crime prevention ahead of the festive season,” he noted. These meetings were facilitated by LC III chairpersons, councillors, and LC II and LC I chairpersons, who worked hand in hand with police officers to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community.
Senior police officers, including the Deputy RPC, CLO, PRO, CFPU, DPCs, and OC CIDs, were part of the team leading the sensitization exercises. Key topics discussed included pro-people collaboration, police duties, child protection, and the importance of inclusive participation in crime prevention.
“The free interaction has yielded a reduction in crime and promoted people-centered policing,” SSP Lwamusayi stated. “This has made policing easier during the festive season.”
As the festive season unfolds, SSP Lwamusayi urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals within their communities. “We want to reiterate our commitment to ensuring safety during and after the festive season,” he emphasized.
He also called on road users to prioritize safety during this busy period, noting the need for caution and adherence to traffic regulations.
In conclusion, SSP Lwamusayi extended warm wishes to all residents of Busoga North. “We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2025.”
