Kampala, (UG):- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged Ugandans to celebrate Christmas responsibly amid calls for vigilance and cooperation with security authorities during the festive season.
The President’s call was contained in his annual Christmas message posted Tuesday, December 25 on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
Addressing Ugandans as “Bazzukulu,” Museveni reflected on the significance of Christmas, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and the peace and safety enjoyed throughout the year. He expressed gratitude to God for guiding the nation to the year’s end.
In a note of caution, the President called upon revelers and organizers of end-of-year activities including music concerts, prayers, and other gatherings to remain vigilant and work closely with security personnel and local leaders.
“I, however, urge the revellers and organisers of end-of-year music shows (bivulu), prayers, etc., to be vigilant and cooperate with the security personnel and local leaders in your areas,” he stated, emphasizing that such vigilance would “deny evil doers an opportunity to spoil our celebratory mood.”
The President’s message was accompanied by warm wishes from the First Lady, Maama Janet Museveni, as the First Family extended their heartfelt prayers during this festive season.
“The First Lady, Maama Janet, joins me in wishing you a happy, tranquil, and merry Christmas,” it [the message] read.
