Bulambuli, (UG):- In a positive development for survivors of the devastating landslides in Bulambuli District, the 20 cows pledged by President Museveni as a Christmas gift have been successfully delivered to the Bunambutye resettlement camp.
President Museveni made the promise during a recent visit to the Bugisu region, where he committed to assisting those affected by the recurrent landslides in the area.
Steven Masiga, the spokesperson for the Inzuyamasaba Cultural Institution, confirmed to Daily Express that the animals arrived safely on Wednesday, December 25, at 3:00 AM and were received by Bulambuli Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Irene Muloni, who oversaw their distribution to the beneficiaries.
“Although the president did not use our cultural structures to deliver the cows, as Inzu Ya Masaba, we deeply appreciate any support that comes to our land to alleviate the challenges faced by our people,” he said.
Mr Masiga however said the Inzu Ya Masaba had preferred the president’s pledge to benefit all Bamasaba landslide victims resettled in Bunambutye, not just those from Bulambuli.
The Bunambutye resettlement camp has become a sanctuary for landslide survivors from across Masabaland, and this gesture is expected to bring some relief to families still struggling to rebuild their lives.
