Budaka, (UG):- The late Budaka Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Hajjati Nabukalu Nusura Juma who perished in a fatal accident at Musita in Kakira along Jinja-Iganga Highway will be buried today, Monday 30th December 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Jinja City Muslim Cemetery.
The official burial program was announced by Pallisa RDC, Majid Dhikusooka, via the official Presidency WhatsApp Group, informing all RDCs and the broader presidency about the arrangements.
According to the released burial program, the funeral will be attended by family, friends, colleagues, and various government officials, all coming together to honour her life and contributions to the country.
The Cemetery where Hajjat Nusura will be buried is the same place where her late husband Juma Jalal was also laid to rest a few years ago.
Hajjat Nusura tragically passed on in a fatal accident that occurred at around 4:30 PM near Kakira, when her white Toyota Double Cabin (UG 4803C), travelling towards Jinja, collided head-on with a trailer (KDH 025V).
The late, who was also the Chairperson of Busoga Women Leaders Association (BWELA) had earlier officiated at a thanksgiving function at Nawansinga Village in Bulamagi Sub-county in Iganga District and was en route to Jinja when the collision happened.
In the vehicle with her was her driver, Khalid Waiswa, who was rushed to Imperial Hospital in Iganga for treatment, and later confirmed dead.
Nabukalu mourned as a humble servant
The Minister for Presidency, Hon Milly Babalanda Sunday mourned the tragic loss of the Deputy RDC describing her demise as a painful to take by the RDC Secretariat. “I announce the heartbreaking news of the death of the Deputy RDC Budaka, Hajjati Nabukalu Nusura, who has died in an accident this evening at Musita,” Ms Babalanda posted on her official X account on the dark evening.
“So painful a loss at this time. She will be dearly missed for her dedicated services to the motherland. May her soul rest in eternal peace and condolences to family, friends and the Presidency at large!”
Hajj Faruk Kirunda, the Deputy Press Secretary to H.E. the President described the fallen Deputy RDC as a tested, trusted, focused and straightforward cadre of the NRM. “She was appointed because of her unshakable zeal for the party and nation,” Kirunda posted.
“She was well-known at all levels right from when I was very young, hearing about her when she was in the local council structures where she served without blemish. She has died in the line of duty and deserves to be celebrated and emulated in her ways. Innalillahi wainalilei rajoon!”
Uganda’s Ambassador to Russia, Mr Moses Kizige has described Nabukalu as a humble person. “I nurtured her into politics. She has been humble. We shall miss her,” he said.
Major Martha Asiimwe, the head of the RDC Secretariat in Uganda described the death of Hajjat Nabukalu, as a significant loss to both the presidency and the nation.
