Businessman Mutanje contributes Shs10m towards Inzu Yamasaba Radio project

Mbale, (UG):- Ugandan Businessman with enterprises in Mbale and Kampala cities, Hon. Emmanuel Mutanje has contributed a total of 10 million shillings towards the establishment of the Inzu Yamasaba radio station, DailyExpress exclusively reports.

Steven Masiga, the spokesperson of Inzu Yamasaba confirmed to this publication that Hon. Mutanje, the newly elevated Minister for Investments and Entrepreneurship Development in the Bamasaba Kingdom, contributed 10 million shillings to the steering committee behind the cultural institution’s radio project.

Hon. Mutanje stated that the radio station would be used to promote cultural institution programs and government initiatives in Masabaland and beyond. He also noted that by next year, the radio station should be operational on the airwaves of Masabaland.

Masiga told DailyExpress that approximately Shs1 billion is needed for the radio station project, and so far, about Shs100 million has been raised in cash and pledges.

The acquisition of the radio station, according to Mr Masiga, aligns with the vision of the cultural leader, His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma with the project expected to serve as a signature initiative to enable Bamasaba cultural leaders to educate the youth about the customs and traditional practices of the Bamasaba people.

The fundraising drive to procure the institutional radio station took place at Mbale Resort Hotel on Friday, December 27, and was attended by notable Bamasaba figures both from Uganda and the diaspora.

Among the attendees were Her Lordship Catherine Khakasa Bamugemereire, a justice of the Supreme Court of Uganda and Hon. Michael Materesi, the United Kingdom president of the Bamasaba Association (IMKA).

Also in attendance was Hon. Professor Florence Wakoko, Inzuyamasaba ambassador to Canada and the United States of America, and an associate professor at Columbus State University who addressed the audience via Zoom from the United States of America alongside Members of Parliament represented by their caucus chairperson, Hon. Wanda.

Kenyan Bamasaba leaders, chief administrative officers from districts such as Wakiso, Rukungiri, Kyotera, Mayuge, and Namisindwa, and other outstanding Bamasaba figures also fully participated in the event.

Who is Emmanuel Mutanje?

Emmanuel Mutanje, an ambitious businessman and politician previously worked as a political assistant to the late James Wapakhabulo, who served as Uganda’s Speaker of Parliament and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

He is a native of Bududa, he has declined several requests to represent his constituency as a Member of Parliament in Uganda’s National Parliament.

Mutanje holds a bachelor’s degree from the Islamic University in Uganda and a master’s degree, as well as an honorary doctorate.

As a young man within the National Resistance Movement’s political circles, Mutanje played a crucial role in supporting Wapakhabulo’s political career, particularly by mobilizing youth in the late 1990s and early 2000s to back Wapakhabulo’s bid as Member of Parliament for Mbale Municipal Council.
