Legendary Tooro musician Kigambo Moses Araali passes on at 48

Fort Portal:- The people of Tooro Kingdom are soaked in a sombre mood following the passing of Kigambo Moses Araali, a beloved and iconic musician whose songs have left an indelible mark on the community.

Araali, known for his deep and meaningful lyrics in Rutooro, breathed his last Saturday evening, leaving behind a legacy of wisdom, cultural pride, and timeless music.

Widely regarded as Entale ya Tooro (The Lion of Tooro), Araali’s music was a mirror of the region’s culture and values. His songs explored pivotal issues affecting society and offered guidance, inspiration, and hope to listeners.

Through his unmatched mastery of language, Araali gave voice to the concerns and aspirations of the Tooro people, making his work resonate far beyond his immediate audience.

One of his most cherished songs, “Ekirale” (The Legacy), stands as a testament to his enduring impact and will continue to inspire future generations. Alongside it, other iconic tracks such as Itaka Kintu Kikuru, Mugaruke Omuka Abaana Bange, Kyamanywaga Oha, Akairima Zigizigi Hatwolekiize, Mukama Tuyambe, and Karugamata remain deeply rooted in the hearts of his fans.

Kigambo’s songs were not only musical masterpieces but also life lessons set to melody. They educated listeners about the importance of family, unity, and faith while addressing social issues with unparalleled eloquence.

As the nation mourns his passing, condolences have poured in from far and wide, with many acknowledging Kigambo’s contribution to preserving and promoting the Rutooro language and culture.

“I condole with his family, friends, the people of Tooro, and all those who enjoyed his music. May the good Lord accord him a befitting deathbed,” said Twekambe Kabaruli in a social media post this evening.

As Uganda mourns the loss of its lion, Tooro celebrates the legacy Kigambo Moses Araali leaves behind a rich catalogue of songs that will continue to educate, inspire, and unite people for generations to come.
