Entebbe, (UG):- President Yoweri Museveni is set to visit the Kigezi sub-region next week in continuation of his assessment of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other government wealth creation initiatives in southwestern Uganda.
The visit, which kicks off next Wednesday, February 12, 2025, has been confirmed by the Presidential Press Unit (PPU) in an official statement on Thursday afternoon.
“The Presidential Press Unit – PPU wishes to inform the General Public and especially the people of Kigezi that His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda will resume his PDM Zonal Tours on Wednesday February 12,2025, in Kigezi Sub-region,” the statement read in part.
“The President will visit PDM Farmers, hold a live media interaction and address a public rally in the sub-region,” the statement added.
The tour will feature a variety of activities, including visits to selected farmers to assess the implementation and impact of wealth-creation programs in the region.
Additionally, the President will officially launch the Regional Zonal Industrial Hub, an initiative aimed at spurring industrial growth and providing employment opportunities for local communities.
The tour, according to PPU is part of the President’s countrywide zonal tours, aimed at strengthening the government’s initiatives to improve livelihoods across the country.
The President’s tour comes at a time when the government is doubling its efforts to deliver on promises of socio-economic transformation, especially in rural areas, through programs such as Operation Wealth Creation and the Parish Development Model.
