Bugiri, (UG): The Director Political Mobilization at State House, Mr Robert Rwakandare, has commended efforts by a group of President Museveni supporters under their umbrella body ‘Museveni Awooma’ in spearheading the sensitization of the public about government programmes through music shows and other creative means.

Mr Rwakandare says that the initiative has greatly popularized some of the key programmes aimed at fighting poverty among people, especially the recent ones of the Parish Development Model (PDM0 and Emyooga.

The State House Aide made the remarks while meeting the group led by their Manager Ibrahim Musoga, Musician Emma Nsereko (Munamasaka) after a successful mobilization campaign launch in Busoga region which attracted a large crowd at Bukooli College SS in Bugiri Municipality on January 31, this year.

Mr Rwakandare revealed that President Museveni and the government came up with such programmes and others to transform livelihoods and income among the poor and vulnerable people with free money but most of them couldn’t access them due to lack of information.

“Even President Museveni himself is very appreciative of your efforts towards the cause that is why he publicly appreciated you during the celebrations to mark the 44th Tarehe Sita anniversary at Kasasa grounds in Mubende,” Rwakandare said in a meeting.

Mr Rwakandare encouraged the group to continue with the program in various areas and also asked residents and leaders in different areas across the country to welcome and cooperate with them wherever they go.

Museveni Awooma group manager Ibrahim Musoga Nakabona said that they came up with the program because President Museveni has done a number of programmes aimed at transforming the lives of Ugandans but some people criticize him that he hasn’t done to expectations.

He said they team up with a number of musicians across the regions that compose educative songs and poems, which they perform at different shows and concerts they hold in addition to playing materials along main streets and social media.

Musoga asked the public to continue supporting President Museveni and other NRM for continued service delivery in the country.

Though he leads musicians in the group, Emma Nsereko (Munamasaka), who composed the Museveni Awooma song, promised to take the campaign to various parts of the country and is soon to announce their next move.

The group publicist, Mr Lozio Kyagulanyi asked residents not to be blindfolded by opposition leaders whom he said laments and criticizes President Museveni without displaying their manifestos to the people.

At the Bugiri launch last month, President Museveni through a keynote speech read by the Bugiri district woman Member of Parliament, Hon Agnes Taaka Wejuli, the group was hailed for the initiative saying it has helped in sensitizing most of the people who were green on government programmes.

In addition to sensitization, the Bugiri district women’s league chairperson Florence Nampiima and district NRM chairperson Steven Mutumba said the event united various NRM leaders and consolidated their support in the area.

At least 500 patients suffering from various illnesses received free treatment through a medical camp organized by the group last month.
