Kalungu, (UG);- The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Regional Coordinator for Greater Masaka, Ms. Nakeeya Hellen, yesterday (Wednesday) conducted a monitoring visit to Kapere Parents School in Lukaya, Kalungu District, to assess the efficiency of service delivery and the state of education at the government-aided institution.
Kapere Parents School, which accommodates both day and boarding students, currently has an enrollment of 1,253 pupils benefiting from the free education program. The school is staffed by 15 government-paid teachers.
During an engagement with the school’s headteacher, Mr. Mulema Diaz, several challenges were highlighted. Key among them were insufficient staff quarters, limited resources for maintaining and emptying toilets, and parental negligence in providing food and scholastic materials for their children.
Despite these challenges, Ms Nakeeya commended the school for its relatively strong academic performance, pointing out its previous achievements in securing top grades. She emphasized, however, that there is still room for improvement in various areas.

The ONC Coordinator assured the school’s administration that their concerns would be brought to the attention of the relevant authorities for swift resolution.
Both teachers and learners expressed their appreciation to President Yoweri Museveni for championing the initiative and for providing essential amenities such as a drinking water tank to support their welfare.
Nakeeya encouraged the teachers to continue their support for the NRM government, which she said has been instrumental in improving educational standards across the country by providing essential services and facilities like those at Kapere Parents School.
