Kampala, (UG);- The Deputy Speaker of Uganda’s 7th National Youth Parliament, Hon Ngabo Timothy has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Central Region Youth Member of Parliament in the forthcoming 2026 elections.
Ngabo, an NRM youth cadre is already gearing up to step into the footsteps of the incumbent; Hon Agnes Kirabo, who has since declared her intentions to upgrade to the Luwero District Woman MP seat in the same election year.
With a strong background in youth advocacy and mentorship, Ngabo is now seeking to bring his expertise to the legislative front as the Youth Member of Parliament for the Central Region.
His campaign is running on the slogan “Youth Empowerment and Transformation” with full focus on championing policies and initiatives that uplift young people by providing them with opportunities for economic growth, leadership development, and improved livelihoods.
Speaking to DailyExpress about his decision to run for the Central Youth MP seat, the Mityana-born youth leader emphasized the need for inclusive policies that address youth unemployment, leadership training, and access to education and resources.
“The youth are the backbone of Uganda’s future, and we must create an environment that allows them to thrive. My leadership will focus on ensuring that young people have a voice in policy-making, access to skills development, and opportunities for sustainable economic growth,” he said.
Ngabo’s ambitious campaign is expected to actively relate with many young people across the Central Region who are seeking dynamic and result-oriented leadership. He reaffirmed to DailyExpress how he will work closely with stakeholders in government, the private sector, and civil society to implement transformative programs that will benefit Uganda’s youth.
He now joins a growing list of aspirants seeking to represent the interests of young Ugandans at the national level. But his experience in youth leadership and advocacy is likely to play a crucial role in shaping his campaign as he engages with voters in the coming months.
The Central Youth MP seat has previously been held by Hon Kirabo Agnes (incumbent), Mr Faisal Kikulukunyu, Ms Rose Namayanja Nsereko, Mr Joseph Muyomba Kasozi, Mr Patrick Nakabale and Ms Sarah Babirye Kityo, all from NRM.
The Central Region consists of districts such as Kampala, Wakiso, Mpigi, Nakasongola, Ssembabule, Luwero, Kayunga, Masaka, Rakayi, Kayunga, Kalangala, Mityana, Kyankwazi and Kiboga.
