Security guard murdered in cold blood at Stabex Fuel Station

Kaliro, (UG):– The Territorial Police in Kaliro District are hunting for unknown assailants behind the brutal murder of a 23-year-old private security guard who was manning Stabex Fuel Station in Kaliro Town Council on Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Musaba David a security guard attached to K. Night Security LTD and a resident of the Industrial Area in Kaliro Town Council where the incident occurred.

Preliminary investigations suggest that on Sunday, 23 February 2025, Musaba reported on night shift duty at Stabex fuel station with his co-worker Ojara Daniel. The guard was last seen by a fellow guard, at around 02:00 am, and at around 04:00 am Masaba’s lifeless body was found lying in a pool of blood at the service bay with his rifle on the body.

According to an 18-minute camera footage obtained by police from the crime scene, an unidentified assailant wearing a distinctive red cap and armed with a hoe attacked the deceased at 0336am.

The assailant ambushed and hit the deceased on the head three times while he was sleeping in the service Bay, resulting in fatal injuries.

Upon receiving the information, police officers led by the DPC went to the scene, where the body was found in a pool of blood with a rifle SMG with three rounds of ammunition. His body was taken to Bumanya H C IV mortuary for postmortem.

The assailant, according to the footage, committed the crime without being detected before riding away with a motorcycle reg. No. UGG 805 V BAJAJ Boxer, which he stole from the service Bay.

The fact that the assailant was able to breach the security of the location, where he committed the crime without being detected raises concerns about weak security measures of the place and possible negligence by the second security guard who took a long to discover that his colleague had been killed.

Further investigations including the review of the security protocols at the fuel station are ongoing with a view to determine how the assailant was able to breach the security of the premises undetected.
