Kamuli, (UG):- Busoga Kingdom’s beauty queens have joined hands with Becky’s Child Foundation to support girls’ empowerment and children’s welfare, furthering efforts to uplift vulnerable communities in Kamuli District.

During a humanitarian outreach at the Kamuli District Offices, the foundation donated five wheelchairs, blankets, and nutritious porridge packs to vulnerable children. The Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, Moses Mitala, praised the organization for its transparent and collaborative approach in addressing the needs of the community.

“We have seen many NGOs arrive with promises to help, only to work in isolation and disappear without making a real impact,” Mitala said. “However, Becky’s Child Foundation has stood out by complementing government programs, identifying the truly vulnerable, and responding swiftly to their needs.”

Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Adonia Mafumu, who presided over the handover of the donations, emphasized the importance of such support, especially with the onset of rains and the growing concerns over child malnutrition.

“These blankets and nutrition packs come at a crucial time,” Mafumu noted. “We appreciate Becky’s Child Foundation for prioritizing public welfare and affirmative action, ensuring that resources reach those who need them most. As government, we pledge to continue providing a conducive environment for such initiatives.”

The event also saw participation from Busoga Kingdom’s beauty queens, led by Miss Tourism Busoga Rashidah Nabiryo. She highlighted how their commitment to charity work was inspired by former Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, who has long championed the rights of women and children.

“When we were crowned as Busoga Queens, Becky’s Foundation CEO Rebecca Alitwala Mubezi encouraged us to use our platform for children’s charity,” Nabiryo said. “She has embodied the theme of ‘beauty with a purpose’ and continues to sustain Mama Kadaga’s legacy of empowering women and children. She is our inspiration and mentor in this rewarding journey of giving hope to the less privileged.”

Speaking on behalf of the foundation’s CEO, board member Monica Innesiko urged society to embrace compassion and empathy to improve the lives of the vulnerable.

“At Becky’s Child Foundation, we believe in sharing the little we have and reaching out with love and care,” she said. “There is nothing more comforting than knowing someone out there cares and is willing to make a difference.”
