Kampala, (UG):- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged UGX 1 billion to Bugema University to accelerate the completion of its state-of-the-art science complex.

This generous contribution was announced during a meeting with the leadership of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda on March 13.

Bugema University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Israel Masiko Kafeero, expressed profound gratitude for the contribution, emphasizing its impact on the institution’s development. “We are on course to finish this building within the year. The donation will speed up and ease the ongoing construction work,” he said.

The new science complex, Prof Kafeero said, is designed to house modern laboratories, office spaces, lecture halls, and a conference centre. Once completed, it will enhance research capabilities, increase student enrollment, and pave the way for the introduction of new academic programs, including medicine.

President Museveni’s support aligns with his long-standing advocacy for investment in scientific research and innovation as a key driver of Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.

This latest pledge also follows an earlier contribution of UGX 20 million, delivered by Vice President Jessica Alupo on Museveni’s behalf during Bugema University’s 75th-anniversary celebrations.

Bugema University, affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, has evolved significantly since its establishment in 1948 as a ministerial training college. With a diverse range of academic programs, the university continues to play a crucial role in nurturing professionals across various fields.
