UPL Matchday 28 – Full Results Summary
BUL FC 1-0 Vipers SC
NEC FC 5-1 Bright Stars
URA FC 5-0 Express FC
KCCA FC 5-0 Wakiso Giants
Kitara FC 1-0 Maroons
Uganda Premier League leaders Vipers SC suffered a major blow in their title hunt on Saturday after falling 1-0 to BUL FC at the FUFA Technical Centre, leaving the championship wide open with just two matches to go.
A late goal from Reagan Kalyowa condemned the Venoms to their fourth defeat of the season, dashing hopes of wrapping up the title early and slashing their lead at the top to just four points.
Vipers came into the fixture sitting on 65 points, needing a win to mathematically secure their seventh UPL crown following their 6-0 demolition of Mbale Heroes last week. But the slip in Njeru now hands momentum to second-placed NEC FC, who hammered Bright Stars 5-1 to move to 61 points.
NEC’s victory in Kavumba was powered by goals from Emmanuel Ajo (brace), Cromwell Rwothomio, James Jeriko, and Emmanuel Kulanga. Shafik Kakande scored a consolation for the relegated Bright Stars.
The results mean both title contenders have two matches left, and the championship will now be decided in the final stretch of the campaign.
Elsewhere, URA FC thrashed rivals Express FC 5-0 in a brutal Hamz Derby showdown. Cromwell Ahimbisibwe bagged a hat-trick, while Namanya and Matovu joined the scoresheet to complete Express’ humiliation.
KCCA FC also kept up their strong end-of-season form with a 5-0 win over Wakiso Giants, and Kitara FC edged Maroons 1-0 in Masindi.
Matchday 28 concludes Sunday with SC Villa visiting Police FC at Kavumba, where the focus now shifts to how the title drama unfolds in the remaining fixtures.
