Wakiso, Uganda: The Police at Kasangati Division in Wakiso District have arrested a notorious suspect believed to be behind a wave of aggravated robberies and murders across several regions of the country, including Kampala Metropolitan Area, Busoga East, Busoga North, Elgon region, and Ssezibwa.

Addressing the media during the weekly police press briefing at Naguru on Monday, May 12, Police Spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke confirmed the arrest of Imanantireganya Alfadudu, also known as “Congolese,” during an intelligence-led operation in Bulamu Cell, Kasangati Town Council, Wakiso District on the night of May 9, 2025.

“During interrogation, the suspect revealed that he and his accomplices, identified as Mozy, Mapengo, and others, used a SAR rifle in a series of violent robberies,” ACP Kituuma said.

He further disclosed that the rifle was routinely hidden at the home of one Ivulungo Bumali in Girigiri Village, Maina Parish, Mpungwe Subcounty in Mayuge District after their operations.

Following this revelation, a joint security team proceeded to Mayuge, where they recovered the SAR rifle, believed to have been stolen during a robbery in Mukono in October 2024. Officers also seized two hammers, a knife, and jackets from Ivulungo’s residence.

Ivulungo and his wife were immediately taken into custody to aid in ongoing investigations. “Preliminary findings indicate the recovered firearm was indeed stolen in the Mukono robbery last year. Investigations into the full extent of the criminal network are underway,” ACP Kituuma added.
