Ngora, Uganda: The 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Boys Football Championship has reached a thrilling climax, with Buddo SS, Bukedea Comprehensive School (BCS), St. Mary’s SS Kitende (SMASK), and Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) booking their places in the semi-finals after an action-packed quarter-final round on Monday, May 12, in Ngora District.
Buddo SS, representing Wakiso Zone, edged Uganda Martyrs High School 1-0 in a tense clash. The solitary goal, netted in the first half, proved enough to send the former champions through.
Buddo, winners of the national crown in 2009 and 2018, now eye a third title and will face BCS in the first semi-final.
Bukedea Comprehensive, on the other hand, advanced in dramatic fashion after a 1-1 draw with Kyadondo SS, also from Wakiso, forced a penalty shootout.
Captain Godfrey Ssekibengo had given the Teso-region representatives an early lead before Kyadondo equalized late in the second half.
In sudden death, Bukedea held their nerves to triumph 9-8. It marked their second penalty success at the tournament, having beaten Mvara SS 5-4 in the round of 32. This is the maiden appearance for the Bukedi-based team in the national semi-finals.
St. Mary’s Kitende, one of the most decorated schools in Uganda’s school football history, delivered a statement victory with a 3-0 demolition of Kibuli SS.
Claude Wakenge opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 12th minute following a collision with the Kibuli goalkeeper. Dennis Kisiriko added a second midway through the second half, and Arafaat Nkoola sealed the win with a powerful header in the 69th minute.

Busoga’s Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) edged out Lira-based Mentor SS 1-0 in the final quarter-final. Captain Richard Okello, also skipper of Uganda’s U-17 national team, netted the lone goal in the first half to send JIPRA into their first semi-final since 2017.
The semi-final lineup is now confirmed:
St. Mary’s SS Kitende vs JIPRA – Tuesday, May 13 at 11:00 AM
Buddo SS vs Bukedea Comprehensive School – Tuesday, May 13 at 9:00 AM
Both fixtures will take place at Ngora High School Playground.
