Mbale, Uganda: The Director of Bugisu Junior School, Madam Halima Nedejje, has declared her entry into active politics, signaling her intent to contest for a leadership role within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Women’s League in Mbale Northern City Division.
Madam Halima, a respected educationist and community mobilizer, said her decision is rooted in a desire to serve and uplift the grassroots. In a phone interview with DailyExpress on Monday evening, she emphasized that political leadership would allow her to amplify voices often left out of key decision-making.
“I believe leadership is about service. Through the NRM Women’s League, I intend to amplify the voices of women and youth and work towards meaningful change in our communities,” she said.

With years of community outreach through education, Madam Halima has earned widespread admiration in Nabuyonga Ward and beyond, where many view her as a practical, visionary leader with grassroots credibility.
Her announcement has sparked optimism among her supporters, particularly women and youth, who see her candidacy as a chance to reshape local leadership priorities around education, inclusion, and empowerment.
