Buyende, Uganda: Minister for the Presidency Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda is the newly elected Chairperson of the NRM Women League for Nkondo Sub County in Budiope West Constituency, Buyende District.
Babalanda secured a landslide victory on Friday, May 16, 2025, garnering 30 out of 40 votes cast by eligible voters at the sub-county level. Her opponent, Nazilina Namukoma Jackline, managed only 10 votes.
The minister was earlier elected unopposed at both village and parish levels — as LC I Women League Chairperson for Kalogoi A Village and LC II Chairperson for Iringa East Parish, respectively.
Nkondo Sub County NRM Registrar, Mr. Kigundu Richard, who presided over the elections, urged the newly elected leaders to prioritize service delivery over prestige.
“I congratulate you all upon winning the party elections. However, I urge you to use your positions to work for the development of our party,” Kigundu said.
In her victory remarks, Hon. Babalanda expressed gratitude to the women and residents of Nkondo Sub County for their support and reaffirmed her loyalty to the ruling NRM and its leadership.
“I would like to thank you all who participated in this election and voted for me. But this is not the end — let us continue supporting our party, especially our National Chairperson, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni,” she said.
The elections were part of the ongoing internal party structures renewal process within the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
