Mukono, Uganda: The Head of Digital Media at Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Kyambogo, Mr Kyeswa Hakim Friday secured a commanding victory as the NRM District Publicity Secretary for Mukono, significantly strengthening his campaign for the party’s CEC slot as National Vice Chairperson for Central Region.
Kyeswa garnered 153 votes, defeating two other contenders, Musoke Stephen who polled 34, and Bogere Travis with 41, in an election marked by high turnout and organized mobilization across sub-counties in the Central district.
With the win, Kyeswa not only cemented his influence in Mukono’s NRM grassroots structures but also secured his seat as a voting delegate at the upcoming NRM National Delegates Conference at Namboole, where the top party organs including the Central Executive Committee (CEC), will be elected.
“This is a vote of confidence from the people of Mukono and the NRM fraternity,” Kyeswa said shortly after being declared winner. “It is also a signal that Central Uganda is ready for new, dynamic leadership at the national level.”
Party insiders this publication spoke to highlighted that the publicity secretary role, often overlooked, provides a strong springboard for ambitious mobilizers.
As Kyeswa continues to traverse the Central Region ahead of the CEC elections, this grassroots endorsement offers him both political capital and visibility.

Known popularly as a close mobilization ally of ONC Manager SPA/PA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, Kyeswa has been instrumental in rallying support for President Museveni’s 2026 sole candidature through the office’s Bazzukulu movement.
His growing influence among youth and lower-level structures is expected to play a key role as he campaigns to replace incumbent Vice Chairperson Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi, whose popularity in some districts has waned because of his political weakness and role inactivity.
The Mukono win adds momentum to his bid, placing him in a stronger negotiating position among regional power brokers as NRM factions begin to realign ahead of the crucial Namboole electoral vote.
